Check-In Hours: 3 pm - 10 pm | Check-Out by 10 am
As a small hostel, our reception desk is not open 24/7 for check-ins. To allow for transit time and potential delays, we recommend not making a reservation with us if you will be arriving in New York later than 8 pm. Of course, once you are checked in, you can come and go as you please (no curfews here).

You’ll Love Our Location

Nestled in a beautiful Upper West Side (Manhattan) residential neighborhood, our 36-bed hostel is located in a historic 1915 brownstone. You'll find charm, comfort, and convenience here. We are located a ½ block from the subway and the magnificent Central Park. Our neighborhood offers a variety of dining options, as well as cafes, supermarkets, bars, and boutiques. We are within easy walking distance to museums, parks, and tourist attractions.

More Than A Hostel

Founded in 1953, our nonprofit's mission is to bring people together from across cultures to build peace and understanding. Our mission is advanced through three areas of focus: the International Student Center (hostel), Arts for PEACE (Peace Education through Arts, Culture, and Exposure), and community/civic engagement.

Make Yourself at Home: Our common areas include the Reception, Arts for PEACE Gallery, and Backyard Garden, as well as, a few spaces that are open 24/7 which include our Common Lounge and Community Kitchen. These are comfortable, well-appointed, and inviting spaces - ideal for making new friends. Free WiFi is available in our common areas.

Age Requirement: We welcome travelers of all ages, with a few restrictions. Guests staying at our hostel must be over 18 years, unless part of a school group or staying with a legal guardian in a private room.

A Room for Every Preference (with amenities, too): We offer several room types: 6 and 10-bed mixed gender dorm-style rooms, semi-private, and private rooms options. Room amenities: linens (sheets, blankets, pillow), air conditioning, ceiling fans, and plenty of outlets. Towels are provided upon request.

Early Luggage Drop-off on Check-in Day: You may drop-off your luggage after 8:30 am. Access to your room and the building's common areas will not be available until check-in at 3 pm or thereafter.

Luggage Storage on Check-out Day: We offer luggage storage based on space availability for $10 per person. Luggage storage is available from your check-out time (10 am) to 8 pm. We are happy to recommend alternative luggage storage services upon request.

A Note on Accessibility: Our guest rooms are located on upper floors (2, 3, and 4) and require a walk-up (sorry, no elevator available). As a small nonprofit located in a historic 1915 building, we are not fully ADA accessible.

Payments: Only Debit/Credit Cards are accepted. Cash and prepaid debit cards are not accepted. We take a 10% deposit of your total stay upon booking. The balance in full is due upon arrival.

Check-in Procedures: A valid Photo ID must be presented upon arrival - a valid Passport for international travelers and government issued ID for others. Additionally, staff will have a few brief questions for guests and general rules to review. For your safety, we request an emergency contact for each guest.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be made at least 48 hours (2 full days) in advance to be eligible for a refund. Any cancellations made less than 48 hours before the arrival date will be charged for the first night. This includes reservations that are made on the same day of arrival. The credit charge on file will be charged. The only things we cannot refund are the fees you may have paid to third-party booking sites (like Hostelworld). Usually, these sites will not refund your deposit, which is a good reason to book directly with us!

No Show Policy: No shows will also be charged first night's rate, and the remaining days of their reservation will be canceled. A no-show refers to a guest that does not check into the hostel as per the details outlined in their reservation confirmation, and does not notify the International Student Center via email or phone message.
